Alison Overseth Named Executive Director of PASE
PASE Executive Director, Dr. Shelly Wimpfheimer, has announced her resignation as of December 31, 2009. Shelly assumed her leadership role at PASE in September 2007 after serving as the Vice President of Youth and Family Services at the YMCA of Greater New York for 11 years. She will be leaving PASE to pursue other professional interests, remaining connected to the non-profit management community, the social work profession and the field of youth development. Please join me in thanking Shelly for her outstanding service to PASE, her dedication to the youth serving field and for the impact she has made to advance the goals of PASE as a supporter and advocate for quality youth programs.
The Board of Directors is delighted to announce that Alison Overseth will become the Executive Director of PASE on January 1, 2010. The Board is so pleased that Alison has agreed to accept our offer, thereby ensuring a seamless transition in PASE’s leadership.
As the founding President of the Board of PASE, (a position that she has now relinquished to take on her new role), Alison has provided inspired, intelligent and innovative leadership for the organization for over eleven years. As a result, PASE has been the voice for quality youth development and a recognized leader in the field of afterschool education. Alison is extremely knowledgeable about the organization (indeed, perhaps more so than anyone else), the afterschool field generally and the essential role community-based organizations play in the lives of New York’s most vulnerable children.
Following a Wall Street career in investment banking, Alison joined the Fund for the City of New York as a consultant to non-profits in 1992. While there, she was identified by private funders and afterschool providers who were seeking strong, skilled leadership to help establish PASE’s governing structure and operations. Alison brought a winning combination of private sector sensibility and experience combined with firsthand knowledge of the demanding and complex world of non-profit management. She also brought a strong belief in the power of quality afterschool programs to change children’s lives and was ready to help build an organization dedicated to the principle that both school and afterschool learning are required for a child’s full education and a successful life.
Alison is a graduate of Smith College where she majored in economics, and of Columbia University School of Business where she earned her MBA. She has three teenage children.
This is an exciting time for afterschool education and an exciting time for PASE. I look forward to working closely with Alison to advance the mission of PASE and address the priorities within the afterschool field.
Sincerely,
Fern Khan
