Out-of-School Time Initiative
The New York City Department of Youth & Community Development (DYCD) has contracted with PASE to coordinate comprehensive training and technical assistance for all sites currently funded through its Out-of-School Time initiative (OST), with the goal of ensuring high quality programming for participating youth and building overall agency capacity. Through the OST process, DYCD funded approximately one quarter of the organizations providing services to children in New York City. OST is the largest municipally financed afterschool initiative in the nation, and PASE oversees the provision of training and technical assistance for all programs funded through it.
Through this initiative offers workshops, institutes, and best practice panels on a wide variety of specific topics in the general areas of Developmentally Appropriate Practice; Academics, Enrichment, and Learning; Maintaining Healthy and Safe Environments; Family and Community Engagement; and Program Development and Management.
In addition to these centralized training events serving multiple afterschool sites, PASE offered single afterschool sites or multiple sites from a single agency individualized consultations focused on a program’s specific needs. PASE consultation packages are tailored to each program and have three key steps: needs assessment, provision of technical assistance, and follow-up assessment.
