Reshaping Out-of-School Time
Reframing Expectations of Afterschool Programs Initiative -
PASE, in collaboration with Dr. Robert Halpern of the Erikson Institute in Chicago, the Booth Ferris and Altman Foundations, and leading researchers, evaluators, and practitioners across the country, has embarked on a multi-year and multi-tiered project to ensure that the expectations and outcomes we hold for afterschool programs are properly focused on the developmental needs of young people and are matched to the opportunities that afterschool programs are uniquely positioned to offer.
Reframing Expectations of Afterschool Programs Resources - It is critical that a national consensus be reached on appropriate outcomes for after school programs, that “quality” programs become more clearly defined and indicators of success for young people more apparent, and that the knowledge and resources of practitioners, researchers and funders come together to make sure this happens.
Out -of-School Time Initiative -
In an ongoing effort to design a more efficient and better coordinated youth services system, New York City recently awarded over 500 new contracts for community-based organizations to provide critical out of school time services to at-risk children and youth within the New York City Out of School Time (OST Initiative). The Partnership for After School Education (PASE) has been awarded both major, multi-year contracts to provide comprehensive training and technical assistance to all participating agencies with the goal of ensuring high quality programming for participating children and youth and building overall agency capacity.
